West Virginia’s Kade Strowd (1-1, 1.56 ERA) has been named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced on Monday evening.
Strowd, who had an unbelievable game on Sunday afternoon in Corvallis, Oregon against the defending NCAA Champions, the Oregon State Beavers, was more than deserving of this honor. Strowd took a no-hitter into the 7th inning, ultimately allowing just 1 hit over 6.1 innings and striking out 5. While he did walk an astounding 9 baserunners, his defense saved him as they turned 5 double plays. Strowd said after the game that he had “never had a defense like that behind him.
