MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia University football player Marcus Simms won’t appear in court again until April 2018 on a pending DUI charge.
Simms, 19, was arrested in August after a Monongalia County sheriff’s deputy pulled him over and smelled marijuana inside the vehicle. The deputy reported Simms had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech and failed sobriety tests after admitting he had smoked marijuana.
In a 10-minute hearing Thursday, Simms’ attorney Dave Jecklin filed a motion for continuance, which was granted by a Monongalia County magistrate.
Simms served a one-game team imposed suspension to open this season, missing West Virginia’s 31-24 loss to Virginia Tech.
