Joseph, who earned his first career Big 12 defensive player of the week honor, had a game-high eight tackles, including seven solo stops in West Virginia’s 44-0 shutout over Georgia Southern. He also intercepted a career-best three passes, all in the third quarter, and recovered a fumble. Joseph’s three interceptions were the most by one player in a game since 1994.
Joseph’s three interceptions in the third quarter marked the third time in school history in the modern era that a WVU player has achieved this mark. Mike Slater finished with three of his four interceptions in the fourth quarter against Kentucky in 1969, and Jack Eastwood collected three in the fourth quarter at Miami in 1973.
