In-command WVU requires Abam’s late goal to nip TCU

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Sophomore Michaela Abam was in the right place at the right time, pouncing on a rebound in the 82nd minute to score the game-winner as No. 3 West Virginia edged TCU 2-1 in women’s soccer action.

The Houston native’s team-high eighth goal of the season extended the Mountaineers’ win streak to 10, four short of the program record. West Virginia (11-1, 2-0) stretched its unbeaten streak in conference games at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium to 28 games.

Despite a 22-3 deficit in shots, the Horned Frogs (8-5, 2-1) were even until Abram scored past the outstretched hands of TCU goalkeeper Shannon Coffer.
