Huggins on Knapper’s return from clot: ‘A ways to go’ before next checkup

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia basketball coach Bob Huggins said he has “no idea” about the timetable for point guard Brandon Knapper’s return.

In a story MetroNews broke this week, the redshirt freshman has been sidelined from basketball activities while doctors treat a pulmonary issue that created a blood clot. Sources said the program remains upbeat about Knapper being medically cleared before the season. The South Charleston High graduate is currently taking medication to treat the issue.

“I actually haven’t asked on purpose because we’ve got a ways to go before they do another checkup,” Huggins told MetroNews “Sportsline” in a follow-up interview.
