MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Bob Huggins typically wouldn’t be satisfied with his team hoisting 36 shots from 3-point range, but Louisiana-Monroe’s zone defense afforded No. 14 West Virginia open looks too tempting to turn down.
“What are you going to do when they stand in the lane?” Huggins said after Sunday’s 100-58 win. “They pretty much had five guys in the lane and let us shoot it.”
Thanks to the lack of perimeter pressure, the Mountaineers attempted their most 3-pointers since Dec. 29, 2010. against St. Johns and made 15 of them, tying for the sixth-most in school history.
