The West Virginia Mountaineers (9-12, 1-7) continued their long, slow descent into frozen misery tonight in Ames, Iowa with a 93-68 loss to the No. 20 ranked Iowa State Cyclones (16-5, 5-3).
West Virginia’s offensive struggles were highlighted in James Bolden’s absence as the Mountaineers shot 39% in the first half, compared to Iowa State’s 50%. The Mountaineers turned the ball over 9 times in the half, leading to the Cyclones taking a 17 point advantage into the locker room after the first period.
Things were only marginally better in the second half, as the Mountaineers improved their shooting percentage to 44%.
