MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A bruising and physically imposing force, West Virginia running back Rushel Shell has spent much of the past offseason focusing on becoming more of a receiving threat out of the backfield.
This former Hopewell High School standout has made progress, but Mountaineers coach Dana Holgorsen tempered expectations Thursday, noting that Shell is “not yet” in a spot where he can be on the field in any offensive situation.
“The perception of him being a dominant force is far greater than the reality,” Holgorsen said. “I’ll be the first to tell him that.
