Holgorsen on winning again: ‘It’s been a long month and a half’

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Exiting a happy locker room for the first time Sept. 26, West Virginia coach Dana Holgorsen exhaled after beating Texas Tech 31-26.

“Just really happy for our guys,” he said. “It’s been a long month and a half, so just to get the victory is obviously pretty good.”

The Mountaineers (4-4, 1-4) needed a few breaks to end a four-game slide—this time it was the other team dropping crucial passes early and committing dumb dead-ball fouls late. But the home team earned most of its good fortune with a physical running game and a bend-don’t-collapse defense.
