MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — KC Huth’s bases-loaded, eighth-inning walk scored the decisive run and West Virginia edged Marshall 3-2 despite managing only four hits.
It was a lackluster offensive outing for the Mountaineers (23-15), who are averaging only 2.8 runs over their last five games. But four WVU pitchers—Shane Ennis, Adam Keller, Jeff Hardy and Blake Smith—picked up the slack by registering 14 strikeouts and limiting Marshall (13-26) to two singles.
“This is two midweek games in a row where I feel like we were unmotivated,” said West Virginia coach Randy Mazey. “If you’re going to be a good player and a good team, you’ve got to find a way to motivate yourself no matter who you face.
