MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University distance runner Kaitlyn Gillespie capped her career by setting a new program record in the 10,000-meter run at the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field on Thursday evening.
Gillespie took ninth place overall, finishing one spot ahead of defending national champion Emma Bates of Boise State and crossing the finish line in a time of 33:44.08. In addition to posting a career-best in the event, she set a new program record for the Mountaineers. The prior mark was 33:45.15, set in 2009 by Clara Gandt.
Her finish earned her second team All-America honors, marking the second time in her career she has achieved the feat.
