West Virginia and the Big 12 Conference released the Mountaineers' 2016 football schedule today, a slate that includes seven home games, a season opener against a Southeastern Conference opponent and a neutral-site game.
Their season kicks off with a home game Sept. 3 against Missouri. Three weeks after that, West Virginia will head to Landover, Md., for its first-ever meeting with BYU on Sept. 24. The other nonconference game will come Sept. 10 against Youngstown State, a Football Championship Subdivision program.
As it has been since joining the Big 12 in 2012, the Mountaineers have nine conference games on their 12-game schedule.
