Freshmen shine during West Virginia baseball win over Eastern Michigan

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – With seven freshmen in the starting lineup, West Virginia rode a youth movement to beat Eastern Michigan 5-1 on Wednesday night at Monongalia County Ballpark.

Freshmen drove in four runs, scored three and collected seven of the eight hits for the Mountaineers (16-11), who have won four of five.

“The last two games we’ve had better energy, better effort,” West Virginia coach Randy Mazey said. “Now I think this team is starting to believe, starting to believe in themselves late in games.
