CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A former member of the West Virginia University rifle team is among the nine finalists for the NCAA’s 2019 Woman of the Year Award.
Ginny Thrasher, a native of Springfield, Virginia, is the first Mountaineer student-athlete to be selected as a finalist for the award and is the only rifle athlete among this year’s finalists. She is also the only nominee to advance and not be sponsored by their school’s respective core conference; while most of West Virginia University’s teams are part of the Big 12, the rifle team is a member of the Great America Rifle Conference.
