MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia filled its receivers coach vacancy Wednesday by hiring 28-year-old Tyron Carrier, a record-setting pass-catcher at Houston who’ll be entering his first full-time coaching job.
Mountaineers head coach Dana Holgorsen, who was Carrier’s offensive coordinator for two seasons at Houston, had been overseeing the WVU receivers himself since Lonnie Galloway left to come offensive co-coordinator at Louisville in March.
“We would like to welcome Tyron to the West Virginia football program,” Holgorsen said. “He was an outstanding receiver and returner when I coached him at Houston so he brings an excellent understanding of our offensive system.
