The Monday after his first start for West Virginia football, quarterback Jarrett Doege was named Newcomer of the Week by the Big 12 Conference.
Against Kansas State on Saturday, Nov. 16, Doege lead the Mountaineers (4-6, 2-5) to a 24-20 win in Manhattan, Kansas. He completed 20 passes on 30 attempts for 234 yards and three touchdowns.
Though 234 yards is just the fifth-most passing yardage this season, his three passing touchdowns equal the most WVU had thrown (N.C. State, Sept. 14).
Doege transferred to WVU from Bowling Green in the summer of 2019 but his eligibility for the 2019 season was uncertain until the week before the first game.
