MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The Lubbock-bound West Virginia basketball team pushed up Friday’s charter flight to beat Snowmageddon.
But not before staging a morning getaway practice that showed coach Bob Huggins some rekindled fire.
“They were great this morning. There was a lot of energy,” he said.
That wasn’t the case during Wednesday’s 56-49 home loss to unranked Texas, which demoted West Virginia (15-3, 4-2) from its perch atop the Big 12 standings and cast doubt as to whether the nation’s No. 6-ranked team was overrated.
Its press barely bothered Texas at all. Concentration lapses at the foul line led to missing 15-of-23 free throws.
