Defender disputes Miles’ 4-point play: ‘I didn’t think I touched him’

Daxter Miles couldn’t replicate his electric shot-making from the Kansas game, but the one 3-pointer he did make Tuesday proved vital.

It stemmed a Baylor rally and became a four-point play when Nuni Omot fouled Miles on the follow-through. A 28-point lead had been trimmed to 12 until Miles’ big moment stabilized No. 21 West Virginia in a 71-60 victory.

“I wasn’t hitting shots all night,” Miles said after finishing 1-of-6 from 3. “But it was a big shot. It still felt good leaving my hands.”

Omot contended it was a phantom foul.

“I closed out to his right hand, because he’s a right-handed shooter,” the 6-foot-9 Omot said.
