COMMENTARY
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — With Bob Huggins’ bunch barreling through Atlantis and Mike Carey’s women bouncing from London to Barcelona, Dana Holgorsen joked that perhaps he chose the wrong sport.
Then again, if all that football camp optimism is warranted—and if those basketball scores remain so inflated—there’s no question Holgorsen’s team is currently facing the best competition of the three.
As Holgorsen’s media briefing reinforced Thursday, preseason position battles aren’t exactly rampant. Essentially none defensively, with only guard and receiver are up for grabs on the offense. Yet because the backups are being realigned almost daily, the two-deep remains fluid heading into Saturday’s 100-snap, full-pop scrimmage.
