MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Jackson Cramer’s walk-off homer capped a four-run ninth-inning as West Virginia rallied past Jacksonville 5-3 in Friday night’s home opener at Monongalia County Ballpark.
“We’ve played on the road so much that we never get the last at-bat,” Mountaineers coach Randy Mazey said. “I told the guys going into today that the last at-bat means the world, and we never got to do that.”
The Mountaineers, after playing their first 18 games on the road, trailed 3-1 with two outs in the ninth before scoring two on an error and the final two on Cramer’s third homer of the season, which easily cleared wall in right field.
