ST. LOUIS – Dylan Cottrell won his opening bout at the 2017 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships on Thursday afternoon to advance to the second round of competition at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis.
Cottrell, the No. 8 seed at 165 pounds, won a 4-1 decision over Penn’s Brooks Martino in the first round of action. He will face No. 9 seed Chandler Rogers of Oklahoma State on Thursday evening at 7 p.m. ET. Cottrell and Rogers met on March 5 in the Big 12 Championship finals, with Cottrell claiming the title with a 5-4 decision.
