MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Shooting three under par in the final round, West Virginia University’s Alan Cooke won medalist honors at the 97th West Virginia Amateur presented by Mercedes-Benz at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs on Thursday. His win qualifies him for The Greenbrier Classic next month.
Atop the leaderboard at two over entering the final round of play, Cooke birdied five holes to shoot 67 in the final round on The Old White TPC and claim the title by eight strokes. He finished with a score of 72-68-76-67=283 and was the only player to finish the tournament under par at three under.
