MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Three takeaways from West Virginia’s 65-51 loss against No. 23 Kansas State on Monday night:
1. Brown bucks the jinx
During three previous games inside the WVU Coliseum, Barry Brown had shot 1-of-15 from the floor. Monday’s bon voyage performance finally yielded a breakthrough.
K-State’s senior guard pumped in 21 points by making 7-of-14, and he looked especially sharp on a series of midrange pull-ups, harkening back to a bygone era.
“It’s a lost art,” Brown said. “Not many people shoot midrangers anymore. It’s different. Analytics say don’t shoot the deep 2s, but it helps me get going in a good rhythm.
