SPOKANE, Wash. – The West Virginia women’s basketball team cruised to a 68-50 victory over Grand Canyon late Tuesday night to salvage a win at the Hall of Fame Challenge and give coach Mike Carey his 300th career victory with the program.
“I’ve always said that you can’t achieve success without great players, coaches and staff,” said Carey, a Clarksburg native who has produced a 300-163 record (.648) in 15 seasons at West Virginia.
“Without these individuals, 300 wins would not have been possible. We still need to improve our performance after tonight’s win, but it’s always good to get a victory.
