Buchanan Wins Ken Giles Award

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University women’s soccer defender Kadeisha Buchanan won the Ken Giles Award, as announced at the Brampton Sports Awards on May 20.

The award, presented by The Guardian, honors the Brampton, Ontario, amateur athlete of the year.

The two-time Canadian U-20 Player of the Year, Buchanan, a rising junior, along with WVU classmate Ashley Lawrence, has been named to the Canadian National Team roster for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada, slated to open June 6. She has made 34 international appearances with Canada’s national team and is expected to start at center back.
