Buchanan, Lawrence Play 90 Minutes in Win

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University rising juniors Kadeisha Buchanan and Ashley Lawrence helped the Canadian Women’s National Team earn three points in the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup opener, as the squad defeated China PR, 1-0, on Saturday, June 6, in front of 53,058 fans at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, Alberta.

Buchanan, a defender and native of Brampton, Ontario, and Lawrence, a midfielder and native of Toronto, played the full 90 minutes. The starts were the student-athletes’ 33rd and fifth, respectively.

Buchanan finished with two shots on goal, both in the first four minutes of the match, and Lawrence registered two shots.
