MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Hear ye, hear ye. I nominate Bob Bowlsby for president of the American Campus Football Confederation, which doesn’t exist yet, so I feel safe offering the endorsement.
Then again, amateur athletics according to the NCAA’s definition doesn’t exist either.

Never mind those sleepy eyes and measured tones, the Big 12 commissioner is boiling internally about the dollar-chasing hypocrisy that threatens college athletics. Overspending on coaches. Overborrowing on arenas. Taking athletic subsidies from institutions where funding shortages have frozen faculty pay. Peddling beer at campus stadiums while preaching the perils of underage drinking.
