The Oklahoma Sooners haven’t lost back-to-back regular season games in almost two decades, and Lincoln Riley and company weren’t going to let that streak end today. OU’s 52-27 victory over the TCU Horned Frogs was notable because it was the Sooners first game with Ruffin McNeill calling the shots as defensive coordinator. Minus a couple breakdowns in the secondary, the Sooners’ defense looked impressive in it’s first Mike Stoops-less game
The story of the game was the benching of quarterback Shawn Robinson in the second quarter. After an ineffective start to the game that left TCU trailing 28-7, Horned Frogs head coach Gary Patterson and offensive coordinator Sonny Cumbie turned to transfer quarterback Michael Collins.
