Ross Vance came on in relief of starting pitcher Michael Groves in the first inning and one-hit the Sooners for a 6-0 win in Game One of the Big 12 Baseball Tournament.
The Mountaineers were able to overcome an injury to starting pitcher Michael Groves behind the brilliance of pitcher Ross Vance. After giving up a leadoff double, Groves fielded a sacrifice bunt attempt and awkwardly twisted his knee as he landed on first base. The injury would require Ross Vance to come on in relief after only one out. Vance struck out the first batter he faced before getting the next batter to ground out.
