MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Nick Kwiatkoski weighed 195 pounds when he finished high school, undersized for any Division I football player who comes close to the line of scrimmage. But he always showed Bethel Park High School coach Jeff Metheny he could transcend his physical frame.
As a senior at Bethel Park, Kwiatkoski was a safety and wide receiver, but there was always an aggression and physicality to his game, traits still etched in his former coach’s memory. Maybe, just maybe, he could excel at a different position.
“He was so physical, the way he came downhill and hit from the safety spot,” Metheny said.
