MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — ESPN phoned seeking an interview, as did CBS Sports. Two other national basketball writers also wanted time with West Virginia coach Bob Huggins in advance of Saturday, making this without question the most hyped Missouri-Kansas City game ever
Huggins stands on the cusp of his 800th victory, a monumental number signifying savvy and longevity that elevates him among the all-time coaching heavyweights.
“Honestly, I haven’t thought about it,” he said despite media requests mounting for the coach who’s 10th on the Division I career list. Huggins is one win behind 82-year-old Rollie Massimino, who picked up his 800th on Wednesday for Keiser University, an NAIA school in West Palm Beach, Fla.
