The new NCAA transfer portal strikes the West Virginia Mountaineers once again, this time taking with it redshirt sophomore wide receiver Ricky Johns. Johns, who hails from North Penn High School in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, came to West Virginia as a safety but quickly converted to wide receiver last year. Johns saw action in three games last season including a season high six plays against Youngstown State.
The move puts the Mountaineers at eight scholarship receivers and only three upperclassmen next year. Johns becomes the third receiver to enter the portal after junior Tevin Bush decided to take his chances in the portal earlier this year and Dillon Spalding left earlier this year.
