MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — It’s Exhibition Friday for the West Virginia basketball team, with Division II Glenville State visiting the Coliseum at 7 p.m. Three discussion points to ponder before the jump:
1. No fries with that, Esa Ahmad
Hype swirls heavy for the four-star forward, who produced a game-high 21 points and five rebounds in 20 minutes during a closed scrimmage against Temple. Long-armed and agile at 6-foot-8, Ahmad can slide from shooting guard to power forward—at least that is the hope provided his perimeter defense is sufficient.
To that end, he has been checking Jaysean Paige, Jevon Carter and Daxter Miles in practice, emphasizing better footwork and smarter tactics on closeouts.
