The first half was competitive, but West Virginia dominated Marshall in the second half in another foul-ridden Capital Classic.
A competitive game in the first half turned into a blowout in the second as #20 West Virginia (9-1) took care of Marshall (3-7) 86-68 in Charleston on Thursday night.
Marshall jumped out to an 8-2 lead to start the game, and six three pointers in the first twelve minutes resulted in the Herd holding a 26-21 lead. West Virginia closed the half on a 14-6 run and led 35-32 at the break. Devin Williams sat for much of the half after picking up two quick fouls.
