West Ham United have confirmed James Collins has been released after more than a decade at the club.
During two spells with the club, the Welshman made 214 appearances and scored six goals.
There has been severe tensions at the club over Collins’ position at the club, with fans wanting the cult hero to be given a new contract – even if it means keeping him on in a non-playing capacity.
Rumours began to swirl he had been told he was to be released via an email, a statement co-Chairman David Gold vehemently denies.
