West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan has told talkSPORT the club failed with a bid to take Demba Ba back to the club.
The 31-year-old striker is currently nearing a return to fitness after suffering a horrific leg break while playing for Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua last summer.
Sullivan says he enquired about a loan deal for Ba earlier this month, but the club decided against it due to fears his return to action could be delayed.
