West Ham news: David Moyes brands Arthur Masuaku 'despicable' after defender saw red for spitting incident

West Ham boss David Moyes has branded Arthur Masuaku’s actions in the FA Cup defeat to Wigan as ‘despicable’.

The Hammers succumbed to a 2-0 loss at the DW Stadium, but were forced to play almost 40 minutes with ten men after Masuaku was given his marching orders.

The left back spat at midfielder Nick Powell after an altercation, and Moyes has vowed to punish the 24-year-old.

“It was despicable,” he said. “He will deserve everything he gets and he will get something he deserves from us.”

“It's unacceptable.”

Wigan outplayed the Premier League side, with a double from Will Grigg enough to send the Latics through to the fifth round of the competition.
