West Ham's desire to move the Champions statue from near Upton Park to the London Stadium faces mounting opposition.
The Hammers had given the impression to fans that the sculpture of 1966 World Cup winners Bobby Moore, Geoff Hurst, Martin Peters and Ray Wilson would be relocated by the start of next season and only red tape around funding was delaying the move.
But thousands of residents living near the statue, which stands 300 yards from the Boleyn Ground, are campaigning for it to stay, meaning its future will now come down to a Newham Council vote expected within two months.
