West Ham have asked about a potential loan deal for Roma midfielder Steven Nzonzi.
However, the Italians want around £3.5million for a loan fee and the player is on a hefty salary.
Nzonzi, 31, is on loan at Galatasaray but is keen to move to London where he has family.
Hammers boss David Moyes is open-minded on who he brings in, with Joe Allen of Stoke watched again on Monday.
Roma are thought to be open to fielding offers this month, with Moyes reportedly believing Nzonzi will be an asset to his squad after previous experience in the top flight.
