West Ham have edged towards a breakthrough in their discussions with the London Stadium’s operators who have conceded the need for a police presence at the venue.
However it is unclear who will foot the bill for the extra security, which the club feel is needed after fights broke out between West Ham and Watford fans during Saturday’s game. There is a possibility the taxpayer may pay some of the costs.
Following Saturday’s disturbances — which included home fans fighting one another — the son of chairman David Sullivan, David Jnr, has also tweeted that a board member was spat at by home fans.
