West Ham are reportedly lining up a £12million bid for Sheffield United defender John Egan in the January transfer window.
Irons boss David Moyes wanted to sign Egan this summer, but the Blades opted to keep hold of him as they look to get back into the Premier League.
West Ham have not given up hope of getting their man, though, and are set to test the Championship club's resolve by putting in a substantial offer when the transfer window reopens, according to The Sun.
The 29-year-old is into his fifth season at Bramall Lane, and his contract with the Blades runs until 2024.
