West Ham are prepared to extend Angelo Ogbonna's contract for another year even if his season is ended by a serious knee injury.
Centre-back Ogbonna suffered anterior cruciate damage in his right knee in West Ham's rousing victory against Liverpool on Sunday.
The 33-year-old is now facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines and will see a specialist imminently to determine the full severity of the injury and provide a clearer idea of the period he will miss.
