West Ham appealing Sofiane Feghouli red card vs. Man United - reports

West Ham United are to appeal against the red card Sofiane Feghouli received against Manchester United, according to reports.

Feghouli, 27, was controversially dismissed in the first half of West Ham's 2-0 loss to United at the London Stadium on Monday.

The winger slid in for the ball and collided with United defender Phil Jones, before being handed a straight red card by referee Mike Dean.

Hammers manager Slaven Bilic was unhappy with the decision but former official Howard Webb said he could understand the call.

"It was the type of tackle that can involve excessive force and at full speed you could see why it could look like serious foul play," Webb said in his Times column,

The BBC and The Sun report that West Ham are appealing, with Feghouli facing a three-game ban.
