West Ham announce signing of Inter Milan star Joao Mario on loan with tribute to iconic Nintendo game

West Ham have confirmed the arrival of Joao Mario on loan until the end of the season from Inter Milan.

The attacking midfielder has long been linked with a move to the London Stadium and joins to bolster David Moyes' options up front.

His arrival from Serie A was confirmed with a familiar viral video on the West Ham Twitter account, depicting the Portugal international as Super Mario from the iconic Nintendo series.

Mario, who was a £35million signing for Inter Milan from Sporting Lisbon in 2016, was presented with the No 18 shirt and declared his happiness to have linked up with West Ham.
