West Ham showed impressive powers of resurgence as they responded not only from their midweek humbling at the hands of Manchester City but also to falling behind at St Mary's.
Andy Carroll provided an immediate response to Manolo Gabbiadini's opener within two first-half minutes and Pedro Obiang got the second just before the break. Mark Noble was credited with the Irons' third after Steven Davis deflected it past Fraser Forster.
West Ham held on for the win and proved the midweek defeat to be only a blip in their recent resurgent form.
