Simone Zaza's father claims the weather and Slaven Bilic led to his son flopping at West Ham.
Zaza moved to the Hammers last summer on loan from Juventus, but he left in January after failing to score a single goal.
The striker has since joined Valencia and he is back to his best having netted six times already this season.
And Zaza's father, Antonio, has now lifted the lid on how bad weather and Bilic's methods impacted his son at West Ham.
"Simone had paid, on a moral level, for missing that penalty at the Euros," he told Calciomercato.
