Simone Zaza is set for his West Ham debut— but the big-money signing will not be handed penalty-taking duties after his Euro 2016 horror show.
Italy striker Zaza gained notoriety this summer with a shuffling run-up to spot-kick that he ballooned over the crossbar in his country’s Euro quarter-final exit at the hands of Germany.
But West Ham boss Slaven Bilic saw a lot more that the centre forward could offer and signed off a £4.3million loan — with a clause for a £17m permanent move — to make him his marquee signing of the summer.
Zaza was left out of Italy’s squad for the international break just gone and has already set about impressing his new team-mates and manager on the training field.
