Newcastle United face competition from Borussia Dortmund in their pursuit of Reims striker Hugo Ekitike.
Newcastle made a bid of around £26million for the 19-year-old in January but he opted against the move saying: 'The timing wasn't right.'
Dortmund now want him as a replacement for Manchester City-bound Erling Haaland but Ekitike is keen on the Premier League.
The Frenchman has netted 11 times in 27 appearances for Reims this season and has provided five assists.
Newcastle have also discussed a move for Everton's Dominic Calvert-Lewin as they formulate a plan to take them to the next stage after securing their Premier League status under Eddie Howe.
