Monty Patterson issues reminder to Mick McCarthy as Ipswich Town whizzkid scores equaliser for New Zealand against United States

Ipswich Town teenager Monty Patterson scored his first international goal on Tuesday night on his first start for New Zealand.

Nineteen-year-old Patterson pounced to score an equaliser in the 72nd minute as the All Whites came back to secure a draw against the United States in Washington DC.

He moved to England from New Zealand at the age of 13 following a successful trial at Ipswich and has developed through the youth ranks at Portman Road.

Progress was hit by a serious ankle injury last year which kept Patterson out for most of the season but he is a regular in the Under 23 development squad.
