Fernandinho deserving of a red this time and Mike Dean will accept he got it wrong over Sofiane Feghouli red

Fernandinho was correctly dismissed for a horror tackle at the Etihad.

Luckily for hapless referee Lee Mason, one of his colleagues saw the tackle for what it was and advised him to dismiss the City player.

Fernandinho flew into the challenge with both feet off the ground, made a 'scissors' motion and caught Burnley's Johann Berg Gudmundsson, clearly endangering his safety.

This was the Brazilian's third red card in only six matches and while he had every reason to complain about the first one against Borussia Monchengladbach and was provoked by Chelsea's Cesc Fabregas for his second, there should be no excuses for this one, which will bring a four-match ban.
